THIS EVENT IS NOW BY INVITATION ONLY.
BLD holds its third Black History Month Event which is hosted by Allen & Overy for a second year. The event focuses on BMEs' contribution in the Law: Past, Present and Future.
Our distinguished speakers have all made legal history. Our keynote speaker is the Attorney General, the Right Honourable Baroness Scotland of Asthal QC. She is the first ethnic minority and first female in history to hold that post.
Our other speakers are Trevor James, who made UK history in December 2008 when he became the first black managing partner at the London office of Morrison and Foerster, a leading US law firm. We also have District Judge Ray Singh, the first judge from an ethnic minority background to be appointed to the Welsh Circuit.
Our ground-breaking Black Letter Law 2009 publication will be officially launched at the event. A copy of the publication can be purchased at a specially reduced price from the cover price of £15.00.
