News - News - United Against Carter

26 Apr, 2006

Standing united against the Carter Review were the Association of Muslim Lawyers, the Black Solicitors Network and the Society of Asian Lawyers who joined forces at the Law Society today to oppose the Carter review. The reasons cited for the opposition were that:

•      Black and Minority Ethnic communities will be denied access to Justice

•      The quality of justice will be diminished

•      Diversity within the legal profession will be jeopardised

•      The reforms will ultimately lead to higher costs

Those speaking at the event included Sailesh Mehta, Chair of the Society of Asian Lawyers and Oba Nsugbe QC.
