Mirza Ahmad, the Chief Legal Officer for Birmingham City Council, is to receive an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Laws (LLD) by Manchester Metropolitan University in July in recognition of his contributions to the legal profession.
Mirza featured in BLD’s Black Letter Law 2007 publication and the latest accolade recognises his work on ethical governance issues as a Vice-President of the Association of Council Secretaries & Solicitors (ACSeS) and work on Human Rights and Freedom of Information in local government. He said of the forthcoming award: “This is a great honour for me and I pay tribute to all the elected members and officers of Birmingham City Council, colleagues at ACSeS, the Bar Council and Birmingham Law Society and, last but not least, Debo Nwauzu at the Black Lawyers Directory, without whom this would not have been possible.” |
