News - News - Paraskeva leaves Law Society as CEO

Janet Paraskeva, the Law Society Chief Executive since 1 October 2000 leaves the role in the summer of 2006 to become the first Civil Service Commissioner. The move comes after the Law Society's separates its three separate roles: as a "trade union," representing the interests of over 110,000 solicitors in England and Wales, as a regulator and the body handling complaints against solicitors. The separation of roles came about following the recommendation of the Clementii report. Paraskeva will be replaced by 3 Chief Executives, one each for representation, regulation and complaints.
