News - News - Lifetime Achievement Award for Attorney General

The Attorney General, the Rt Hon Baroness Scotland of Asthal, received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Black Solicitors Network (BSN) Anniversary Ball and Dinner.

Trevor James, who made UK history in December 2008 when he became the first black Managing Partner at Morrison and Foerster, won the Outstanding Lawyer 2009 award. BLD’s founder and Managing Director Debo Nwauzu and Fiona Bolton, a partner at Eversheds, were also nominees in this category.

The winner of the Promising Young Lawyer 2009 award was Ashley Howard, who has a training contract with Berwin Leighton Paisner. The other nominees in this category were Iysha Stanley – a former BLD Legal Launch Pad student – and Cyran Field.

The keynote speaker was Sir Dennis Byron, President of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, which sits in Arusha, Tanzania, hearing the cases of those charged with genocide in Rwanda.
